Hello there, @AARS.

Let me help you remove a bin location that's no longer in use.

When you move inventory from one bin location to another, you can delete the old bin location from the inventory sites using the steps I'll list below.

  1. On the Inventory menu, click Inventory Site List.
  2. Locate the bin location you want to delete. Then, right-click on it.
  3. Click Delete Bin Location.

If you're prompted with a window saying you can't delete the bin, this means that it's currently in use. In this case, you can select the Make Bin Location Inactive option. Deactivating an inventory site or bin location doesn’t unlink them to the transactions. This way, you can still see all of your transactions when pulling up a report.

To ensure your quantity on hand by site is accurate, ensure you've set up Advanced Inventory correctly. Here's a guide on how: Set up Advanced Inventory.

I do not want to delete the bin totally because I have other inventory there. I want to delete it from an item record so that it does not show up under that item bin locations. At this point it cannot be removed from an item record thus you end up with an item having many bin locations.

Hi there, @AARS.

I understand the importance of deleting a bin from an item record, @AARS. However, the feature to do this isn't currently available. We recognize your business needs and assure you that we're always committed to providing everyone with the best service.

In the meantime, you can use the Transfer Inventory feature to transfer your inventory from one bin to another bin location.

Here's how:

  1. Click the Inventory from the menu and select Transfer Inventory.
  2. Fill in the proper bin locations in the Transfer from and To fields.
  3. Fill in the necessary details and the To Bin column.
  4. Click Save & Close.

Furthermore, I recommend sending feedback directly to our product engineers so that they can take proper action about this feature.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help menu, then select Send Feedback Online
  2. Select the Product Suggestion from the dropdown menu.
  3. Fill out the on-screen instructions in the QuickBooks Feedback window.
  4. After that, click Send Feedback.
