I'll make it up to you to ensure you never have to deal with this again and make sure time-tracking trackers work on your end, EEO1.
We appreciate you for choosing QuickBooks Online (QBO) to manage your business. The weekly timesheets are non-posting transactions and they will not show on reports like Profit and Loss until the contents of the timesheets have been added to a sale for an expense-type transaction. This feature is available on all QBO versions. Also, timesheets only allow a single hourly rate. If you need to enter multiple hourly rates, you can sign up for a QBO Payroll subscription.
On the other hand, the time tracking feature is available in QuickBooks Online Essentials, Plus, and Advanced. We'll need to turn on time tracking. Here's how:
- Go to Get paid & pay then choose Time (Take me there), or go to Time (Take me there).
- Select if you want basic time tracking in QuickBooks Online, or if you want to try a QuickBooks Time account with more time tracking features. Either way, you can access timesheets from QuickBooks Online.
- Click Get Started.
On done, adjust your time tracking preferences:
- Go to the Gear icon on the top menu and select Account and settings.
- Click the Time tab.
- In the section you want to make updates in, tap Edit ✏.
- Set your time tracking preferences:
- Who tracks time: Select team members to choose who tracks time.
- Turn the switch on for any team members who need time tracked.
- To allow 1099 contractors to track time, select Show contractors, and turn the setting on. Select Save.
- First day of work week: This affects how employees and contractors view weekly time sheets.
- Add Service field: When on, team members who fill out timesheets can specify if activities should be billed to a customer.
- Allow time to be billable: Adds a checkbox on timesheets to specify whether activities should be billed to the customer. Check Show billing rate to users entering time if you want your team members to see the billable rates.
- Press Save, then Done.
