The void button appeared for me finally. I was able to void and quickly fix and refile. Hopefully it appears for everyone else.

I am curious about the same thing. Had one rejected today but that "void" button is non-existent on QB Online.

My void button showed up today but it wasn't there yesterday. Maybe try again today

Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Info and Abra.

For rejected 1099 filings, we currently have an ongoing investigation about being unable to void forms. Rest assured that our engineers are diligently implementing a fix as soon as possible so you can update the incorrect information on your 1099s and e-file again.

While the investigation is continuing, I recommend reaching out to our customer service team so they can add you to the list of affected users. This way, you'll receive email updates about the status of the investigation. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Help icon and choose the Search tab.
  2. Select Contact Us.
  3. Describe your concern and select Continue.
  4. Choose between Chat with us and Have us call you.

If your 1099 filing did not appear as rejected, please know that the option to void is no longer available once you've successfully submitted your forms. If you need to make corrections, you need to work directly with the IRS.

Furthermore, you may want to print your 1099 forms in QBO so you'll have a physical copy for record-keeping.

Please don't hesitate to return to this thread whenever you need additional guidance in voiding your 1099 filing in QBO. We'll be more than glad to offer assistance. Have a great day ahead.

My 1099 forms were rejected and I see them listed as such. But where is the VOID button? I can't find it.

January 26, 2024

Same. No 'Void' button on mine and I need to void three 1099's. Hope we can get this button soon before we get penalized!

Are there any updates? I also cannot find the void button. I tried to call but it's after hours.

If the void button isnt going to be available can you provide the instructions as to how to file amended versions to the IRS...do we need to file using paper forms? How do I get corrected 1099s to our contractors when all that is wrong is we had a typo in the EIN for our company.....

Can I not just handwrite the correct Payer EIN on the form and let them use those?

When everything is automated there has to be a work around for when automation fails.....

We want you to come across a different experience than this, Desoree.

Yes, you're correct. You'll need to file using paper forms. I'm here to help you file the 1099 to the IRS.

Here's how:

  1. Order 1099-NEC IRS forms online at IRS Online Ordering for Information Returns and Employer Returns.
  2. Fill out the 1099-NEC form and make sure to enter the correct EIN.
  3. Tick the Corrected box.
  4. Once done, mail the form to the IRS.

Furthermore, you can check this article which has detailed instructions for filing 1099: Instructions for Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC.

We appreciate your patience while our team is working to resolve the issue as soon as possible.

Same thing happened to me and I was finally able to see the "void" option this morning. HOWEVER, it is important to note that I had to actually call the IRS to figure out why my 4 1099-NECs had been rejected.

Comparing with the 2022 year which had no issues and were IDENTICAL to the 2023 which were rejected, it seems IRS accepted 2022 when I filed them last year without issue, YET previous to 2021 I noticed that BOTH our legal S-corp business name AND our DBA would appear on the 1099s.  I had not even noticed that for the 2022 year, Intuit ONLY printed our DBA and although they were accepted by the IRS last year, this is the actual reason why our 2023 1099s were REJECTED now - only shows our DBA and not the business's legal name.

I went into the General QBO settings and discovered that "somehow" our legal business name mysteriously disappeared!  Whether it was a system update glitch that occurred well over a year ago I can only speculate.

I entered our legal S-Corp name and still shows the DBA name for other items like invoices, etc.

When I went to create new corrected 1099s it now ONLY shows our legal business name and the DBA does NOT show on the line underneath as in all years previous we've been doing this since 2010!

This prompted me to have to call QBO support and they were really no help in understanding why QBO removed our legal name in the first place, and why now QBO will only populate the 1099s with the legal name and not include on the line underneath the DBA name as has been done in all years previous - EXCEPT for 2022 which somehow the IRS accepted (our 1099s with no legal name and just DBA).

On the new ones I am preparing this morning, in the PREVIEW window before filing, I do NOT see the "Corrected" box checked - I am hoping that this means the recipient never received the original ones which are not voided because if they did, and now these are submitted without the corrected box checked, we are going to have big problems.

These corrected 1099s better NOT be rejected again.

This is exactly what I'm seeing, except I'm a Sole Proprietor, which I assume means my actual name needs to show in the Payer's block so it doesn't get rejected by the IRS?  And like you said, you can't get the the DBA name to even show then on the 1099.

I need to Void a previously e filed 1099-MISC that "has" been accepted. According to what I have read if you originally e filed the form that needs voiding you need to e file the Voided form as well. I do not see this option in QuickBooks. How can I e file a 1099 that needs to be voided?

February 3, 2024

If it has been accepted by IRS, you have to wait and file an correction 1099. You cannot void it.  I think Feb 7th is when that option becomes available.

February 3, 2024

The problem is that the 1099 shouldn't have been sent. It needs to be voided not corrected.
