Question

Why would version with 4 licenses only let 3 users on?

Client has version with 4 licenses, but seems to only let 3 in at same time.

Setup 'seems' okay but clearly something is amiss and not sure where else to look for cause.

any suggestions welcome!

Do they have a license for 4 users OR a license for 3 users + a license for single user?

That is a good question - we will check that out.

Also, we find they have a problem actually logging out of QB, even though we keep reminding them.

Make sure you can login to CAMPS as the Primary Contact and find your license code(s) there.

QuickBooks Pro allows three users be logged into a company file at the same time. Premier is I think five.  But you can have as many licenses as you want of either, which can be useful despite the limits.

Thanks for reminder...they are running QB Enterprise, however.

RE: they are running QB Enterprise

Oh. Well then there's no limit of 3 users. Enterprise allows 25 simultaneous users.  So, not sure what the client is seeing, but it's not a user-limit.
