ACH Online Payment Error

Hi there,

When paying an invoice I have received from a vendor using the ACH option the system is not accepting my bank account number. However, if I drop a digit in the middle of the account number, it is accepted. I have been told that this is an internal error with Intuit but I am hoping that someone can give me a better answer. The account number is 9 digits long and then 8 digits after removing a digit. My bank has called and QBO has assured them that it is not a bank issue but an Intuit issue.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi there, sydney. I understand that you are trying to pay the bill from your vendor. I can provide you with steps for adding your bank account number.

To successfully add it, please ensure your bank is supported with QuickBooks Online. Keep in mind that QuickBooks Bill Pay only supports US banks.

If your bank is supported by QuickBooks, try doing some troubleshooting steps to fix the issue. Sometimes, QuickBooks may not function correctly due to browser issues.

We can solve this by accessing your QBO account using a private browser. Follow these steps:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If this resolves the issue, return to your regular browser and clear your browsing history to start fresh. If not, you can use a different supported browser.

If you're still having trouble adding it after troubleshooting the browser, I'd recommend reaching out to our contact support for further help.

Thank you for the recommendation however, I still found the same payment error. Are you aware of any parameters for the length of account numbers that can be used or if banks that support QBO have to be setup specifically to use account numbers of a certain length?

@sydney541

You need to pay a bill to a vendor with ACH, correct? You can try a workaround.

I was hoping to utilize the ACH payment type and receive some form of resolution to an issue that is coming from an Intuit service. I have spent hours on the phone with support and have not received any useful troubleshooting or reasoning behind the error. That is why I find myself here now to see if anyone else has run into this issue.
