I appreciate your focus on keeping your financial transactions organized, Tanner. While QuickBooks Solopreneur doesn’t have the feature to add custom categories, I know an option that could work for you.

QuickBooks Solopreneur operates within a specific framework that aligns with the IRS Schedule C categories. The program doesn't have an option to create custom categories for bank transactions. Instead, it utilizes pre-defined categories to assist self-employed individuals in reporting their income and expenses accurately.

You could consider upgrading to QuickBooks Online (QBO) Simple Start for greater flexibility. This version allows you to create accounts in your chart of accounts, helping you categorize your bank transactions more effectively.

If you need more information about the specific categories in QuickBooks Solopreneur, I recommend reading this resource article: Schedule C and expense categories in QuickBooks Solopreneur and QuickBooks Self-Employed.

Furthermore, I encourage you to consult your accountant for personalized guidance on categorizing your bank transactions. Their expertise will help you select the most appropriate categories for accurate financial reporting.

Finally, I'd like to share some valuable resources to help you effectively handle the transactions you download from your bank or enter into the system. These guides will provide you with the necessary information to keep your financial records organized:
