AP Create Bill Drag & Drop - QBO
QBO updated yesterday, and between yesterday and today I can no longer drag a .pdf straight from an email into Add Bill/Upload from Computer. In fact, Upload from Computer is no longer an option. Now there's Create Bill or Upload Multiple Bills. Neither one of these options will now allow a direct drag from an email, which was quite upsetting. I don't have time to open each .pdf, save it, go to Attach Files, find and select it, etc. Much too tedious!
So I found a work around. It takes a little bit of setup, but once it's set up it's almost faster than dragging them one at a time from emails.
The setup part:
On any email with a .pdf bill attached, don't open the .pdf, but click on the little arrow just to the right of it. This opens a menu. A little more than halfway down you will see Upload. Select it, and it will show a location to the right. Click on that location. This autosaves the .pdf into an Attachments folder in that location.
Find the Attachments folder and verify that the bill is now located inside it.
Pin the Attachments folder to your Quick Access bar in Windows Explorer.
Now you're ready to load bills into QBO, very quickly.
The Creating Bills part:
Click on emails and Upload all the bills you want to put into QBO. Once they're all in the Attachments folder, open QBO.
Go to Bills/Add Bill/Upload Multiple Bills.
Click the Select Files link in the middle of that box and Windows Explorer will pop up.
Select the Attachments folder you've saved to the Quick Access bar.
Shift select the top bill to the bottom bill so they're all highlighted and select Open at the bottom of the window.
Boom. They're all being uploaded to QBO, and they'll show up at the bottom of that page for you to review.
After I'm sure they're all loaded okay, I delete them all out of the Attachments folder, so it's empty and ready for the next time I'm uploading bills. I'm thinking about uploading them as I go through the morning, then putting them all in QBO once in the afternoon, or something like that.
Anyway, I hope this workaround is helpful to you! I was on a chat with a very nice tech for a very long time and he couldn't tell me anything about when drag/drop from email would come back - but this should do till then!
