Anyone else having mailing addresses rejected because QBO bill pay can't find the mailing address, that the USPS has delivered to for many years?

Hey there, @89720624.

Thanks for taking the time to reach out to the QuickBooks Community. I hope your day is going great.

Would you mind sharing a screenshot of the error message you're receiving? This way, I can get a better look at what's going on and provide the best steps to get this matter resolved.

I also wanted to ask, has this address been an issue in the past for bill payments? The more details you can provide would be great.

I'll be sure to keep an eye out for your reply. Please let me know if you have any additional concerns. Chat with you soon!

Hey Tori,

I am having a similar issue.

  1. It wants an email address for a utilities company (never provided to me)
  2. When I put down the address that I have been using for years through QB to pay, it says the address cannot be found.
  3. No way to manually force it through to next page that I can find.

Please see attached SS as well.

@EsotericPA

You can signup for a free Melio account as a workaround

If you can pay your bill with Melio, you can use it as the backup. You can also get $100 cashback to pay the first bill.

@89720624

Did you just encounter this issue today?

January 30, 2024

I don't know if this is the same issue you had, but I've been trying for days to add paper check as a payment method for a Vendor with Online Bill Payments (QBO.) The issue is when I get to Where should we mail this check to?, QB can't locate the address.

However, I finally figured out the glitch today, so maybe this will help others until QB fixes it.

  • Address line 1 prompts for Street and number, PO Box, check locker, so I enter the street address, which happened to be a very generic address (100 5th Street.)
  • Immediately a selection window opened up with a list of addresses, but only gave me 10 choices (most of which were located near me or in my state, but not the one I needed.)
  • So, I filled in the City, State and Zip Code fields.
  • Under Address line 1, it said Search and select an address from the list in red.
  • There was no button for a drop-down list, so I backspaced and reentered the letter.
  • The list popped up with the same 10 addresses, with no regard to the City, State, and Zip that I entered.
  • I tried every variation of the address I could think of with no luck.
  • I went on USPS to verify the address I had was correct. It was.
  • I went to google maps and saw that the vendor actually shares a building with a USPS branch, so I copied the entire USPS address (including city, state, zip) and pasted it into the Address Line 1 field, and it immediately came up on the popup list.
  • I entered my vendor's address the same way on Address Line 1, and it was on the list this time.
  • Once I selected it, the red message went away, and the address displayed exactly how I entered it the first time.

So, it only worked for me when I entered the street address, city, state into the Address Line 1 field. I tried it with other addresses, and it seems that more unique addresses will pull up with just the street and number. But if it is a common address, you may need to enter the city and state as well on Address line 1. QB must use some sort of location tracker and lists addresses starting with those closest to you, but it only displays 10 results.

Hopefully QB fixes this. It's been extremely frustrating.
