I will be on vacation when I normally process payment for a few customers. Is there a way to receive payment today but it not charge them until the 3rd?

I'm glad you ask this question, emcbookkeeper.

On February 2021, QuickBooks Online launches this new feature wherein owners can offer their clients the option to set up automatic payments for future dates.

Below are your two options:

  • Send a recurring invoice with online payments enabled. This allows your customer the option to enable autopay. They can save their payment information to pay every recurring invoice automatically, on time.
  • Send a single invoice with online payments enabled. This allows your customer the option to schedule their payment for a specific, future date they want to pay their bill. It must be before, or on, the due date set by the small business.

To enable Autopay, you’ll need a QuickBooks Payments account. Autopay is available on recurring invoices that's why we need to set it up. Follow the steps below on how to do so:

  1. Create your invoice, then select Create recurring invoice on the transaction. Or you can create a recurring template.
  2. Specify the frequency interval, start date, and end date of the recurring invoice.
  3. When you finish the recurring invoice, select Save template

For more details about the Autopay feature, you can read this article: Set up Autopay for recurring invoices in QuickBooks Online.

You know where to go if you have follow-up questions while working with the Autopay feature. Have a lovely day ahead.
