Question

Cannot refund CC payment from Invoice

I am having trouble issuing a refund with QB online. The customer made a purchase with a CC last week and when I access their invoice and click "more" on the bottom, the option for refund does not appear. Just "Copy, Void, Delete, Transaction History and Audit Journal." We used the QB software to input and pay using their CC. Is there something I'm missing? Thank you.

Let me help you process a refund in QuickBooks, Mark12262.

Processing a refund is based on various scenarios. If the customer isn't satisfied with the service, you can use the Refund receipt or Give refund option to return the item or the service.

Here are the steps you can follow to accomplish this task.

  1. Click + New.
  2. Select Refund receipt or Give refund.
  3. From  the Customer ▼ drop-down, then select the customer you want to refund.
  4. From the Refund From ▼ drop-down, then select the bank you deposited the payment for the invoice to.
  5. Add all products or services the customer returned in the Product/Service column.
  6. Make sure to fill the date, quantity, rate, amount, sales tax, and other fields accordingly, then click Save and close.
  7. If you want to give a partial refund, only add the items or amount you want to refund.

If the customer wants a full amount or credit, please browse this article for the detailed steps: Record a customer refund in QuickBooks Online.
