Question

Hi! When using Quickbooks checking, and the envelopes, do I have to transfer money out of an envelope to pay a bill with my debit card?

I set up envelopes for different business expenses. To pay those with my debit card, do I need to move the money out of the envelope?

You don't need to transfer money from an envelope to pay a bill when using QuickBooks checking. Let me guide you through the process of how to do it, Wendy.

To start, you'll need to transfer funds to your QuickBooks Checking account so that you can efficiently manage bill payments from an envelope. Here are the step-by-step instructions to move money from an envelope to your QuickBooks Checking account:

  1. Select Banking services, then select QuickBooks Checking.
  2. In the Envelopes section, select the envelope you want to take money out of.
  3. Select Get or Send Money and enter the amount you want to take out of your envelope.
  4. In the From field, make sure you selected the correct envelope.
  5. In the To field, select your QuickBooks Checking account.
  6. Enter the amount you want to take out of your envelope and select Next. Then select Continue when the transfer request finishes.

Next, you're ready to pay the bills. Simply follow the steps outlined below:

  1. Go to Banking Services.
  2. Choose QuickBooks Checking.
  3. Select Pay bill.
  4. Then follow the step-by-step prompts to easily schedule and make payments using either paper checks or ACH.
