I am finding nothing even remotely close to finding a solution anywhere on the Intuit site. Just says plug in turn on and start taking payments - but reader is not recognized

Hi there, @LLY1. I'm here to ensure you'll be able to get the credit card reader to be recognized in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) account.

To start, let's make sure that your QBDT is updated to the latest release. This is to allow the program to have the latest components and fixes that prevent issues while using it.

You also need to make sure that the card reader you're using is compatible with QBDT. To check, please visit this article: QuickBooks Payments card reader features and compatibility.

Once confirmed, attempt to unplug and plug back the USB credit card reader. If the issue persists, I recommend reaching out to our Technical support team. When connected, you can request a screen-sharing session so they can further investigate the root cause of the issue.

As a workaround, you could process the transaction by entering it manually or use another payment service like E-invoice.

Keep me posted about the updates on how the steps go. I want to ensure you'll be able to use your credit card reader. Have a good day ahead and take care.
