Question

How do I research if a credit card transaction actually was declined or approved?

I have a credit card transaction that I thought was processed, but it looks like it was never processed or gone through.  How do I know if it the charge was declined and why?  How do I know if the charge was accepted?  Thank you.

Hi there, n-howard.

I'm here to share how you can check the status of a credit card payment.

Let's login to your Merchant account to view the status of the payment:

  1. Sign in to the Merchant Service Center.
  2. Select Transactions.
  3. Under Status, you'll be able to see if the payment is declined or approved.

QuickBooks will also send an email regarding the status of a credit card payment, whether it's approved or rejected. The email gives you a specific code, describes the problem, and guides you through what to do. Any related fees will also be in the email. Here's an article for detailed information: Fix rejected ACH payments or fees in QuickBooks Payments.
