How long does it take for a bank transfer payment to clear? Does quickbooks offer pre-authorization to ensure bank transfer payments won't bounce?

We are looking for a way to collect customer payments faster than the typical ACH waiting of 3 business days. We want to know as soon as possible that a payment has cleared and cannot bounce back.

    Hello there, @usertwatson.

     

    You can get an instant deposit, so you'll no longer wait a few days to get the funds.

     

    Payments can be deposited into your bank account in minutes. You'll need a QuickBooks Payments account and connect it to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account. Here's how:

     

    1. Log in to your QBO.
    2. Go to the Sales and select the Deposits.
    3. Select Get set up in the instant deposit banner. Note: You'll only see this option if you're eligible.
    4. Follow the onscreen steps and enter your debit card info.
    5. You'll then receive a confirmation code. Once done, enter it to verify the account.

     

    Then, follow the instructions outlined in Step 2:  See your available funds and Step 3: Get an instant deposit section: Get instant deposits in QuickBooks Online. 

     

    Note: There are some cases that the Instant Deposit will not go through when setting it up. If it appears that you aren't eligible for it, you can see the possible reasons below:

     

    • You haven't processed any payment transactions for the day.
    • You’ve already reached the daily limit
    • Your processed transactions are under review.
    • The payment is larger than the daily maximum.

     

     If you were able to successfully sign up for instant deposits in QuickBooks Online, that would mean that you were eligible for this feature.  Here are some articles for more details:

    Thanks @SarahannC . Do you know if these deposits are fully cleared? My concern is that we might be able to get the funds instantly but then they could bounce back a couple of days later. We don't want our customers to have to wait a few days until we know our typical ACH's have cleared, but we also don't want to release our products too early if the payment will bounce later on. Thanks for your help!

      Hello, usertwatson. 

       

      Thank you for getting back to us. You can check through your QuickBooks Payment account or by calling our support team. Since Community is a public space and we're unable to pull up your account for security reasons. Customer support can take a look at your account and verify if the deposits are fully cleared. Here's how:  

       

      1. Go to the Help icon.
      2. Select Talk to a human.
      3. Enter "Talk to a human" again in the search bar.
      4. Choose I still need a human, then click Contact us.
      5. Select Get a callback or Send a message to start a conversation. 

       

      Also, If you make an instant deposit request, Let's ensure to request on or before 3 PM PST to get your money or deposit on the same day. If you've requested after that time, we process the payment at the normal speed.  

       

      Here's how to request the instant deposit: 

       

      1. Click Sales.
      2. Go to the Deposits tab.
      3. Click Get it now in the instant deposit section.
      4. Review the total and associated fees.
      5. Once you're ready, click Get it now. 

       

      You'll receive the payment within minutes. It can take up to 30 minutes depending on your bank. You'll receive an email notification once it's deposited successfully.

      What kind of business do you run? How did you collect payments all this time? Are you not using a certain payment processor?
