Hi,

We've had several occurrences of customer's paying by credit card via our payments link when credit card payment has been turned off on both the invoice and customer profile.

Is this a known bug or are we missing something?

Appreciate any insight on this.

I commend you for bringing this concern to us, Devin. I'll help you handle this as soon as possible.

If I may, I would like to request that we reconsider the payment method that has already been disabled. Let's troubleshoot your QuickBooks account. To resolve this issue, I recommend the following steps:

Check Payment settings:

Check that the payment settings in QuickBooks Desktop are correct.

  1. Go to Edit, then Preferences.
  2. Select Payments, click Company Preferences, and check that the Accept credit card payments option is off.

Check Customer Profile settings:

Go to the customer profile and ensure that the Allow this customer to pay by credit card option is disabled.

Check payment links:

Check that the payment link is not set up to accept credit card payments even when the setting is turned off if you use it to process credit card payments.

You should update your payment link: If the payment link is configured to accept credit card payments, change it to accept only other payment methods, such as ACH or eCheck.

Monitor transactions:

Regularly monitor your transactions to ensure that no credit card payments are being processed when the setting is turned off.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, I suggest contacting our payment support. They have the appropriate tools to help you further and may initiate a screen-sharing session.

I'm adding this article: Void or refund customer payments in QuickBooks Desktop. It includes a brief explanation of when you can cancel or refund a customer's payment.
