Link payment service to QB company file

We want to start sending invoices out of QB and when I tried to link payment service to our QB company file, I get the message "Cant link merchant services My User ID matches an existing Merchant Service account in use with company name (which is a customer)" When I look in our products and billing, our customer is listed. I have called QB and they don't see the customer company in our account. How can I remove my user id from my customer's merchant account? How did it get linked to in in the first place?

Hi there, Ace. I'll help you with linking your payment account to your QuickBooks company file.

First, your customer needs to change the user ID associated to their account. This removes your user ID from their account to link your payment service to QuickBooks.

    They can follow these steps:

    1. Sign in to the Merchant Service Center.
    2. Click on Account, then Login & Merchant Accounts.
    3. Select Change your User ID, Email, and PasswordThis redirects you to accounts.intuit.com where you can make changes.
    4. Tap on Sign in & Security.
    5. Choose the User ID or Email address you want to change, then edit the user ID or email address.

Here's how you can learn more about the process: Change password, security question, account email or user ID for the merchant service center.

If you're added as a user to their merchant account, you may also ask him or her to remove your name or user ID from the list.

    1. From the Payments homepage, go to the Account drop-down.
    2. Select Users.
    3. Select the X to the far right under Delete.
    4. In the pop-up window, confirm the delete request.
    5. Choose the appropriate check-box and select the OK, delete this user button.

After that, link your payment account to QuickBooks.

If you're running into issues, I recommend reaching out to our Payment Support for further assistance. A live representative can look into your account securely and help you connect your payment account to QuickBooks.

When everything is in place, you can proceed with accepting electronic customer payments for online invoices and in-person sales. I'm adding these articles as your guide:
