Question

Matching CC Expenses to the Feed with multiple CC accounts

Is there a way to enter a Credit card receipt and have it automatically match WITHOUT knowing which credit card account it is on.   IE is there a place or way to enter the receipt and have it automatically match to the correct credit card account.

This is getting confusing for us, because some vendors will be under many different credit card accounts.

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to the Community, Michelle. Let me share information about matching credit card transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The system tries to match your entries automatically once the check number, amount, date, account, payee name matches those in QuickBooks records. When recording the credit card receipt, ensure that the details are similar with the downloaded ones. If QuickBooks don't see a match, you need to match them using the Find match option. I'm adding this link for more information: Categorize and match online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online.

On the other hand, you can set up bank rule for your transactions. This way, you'll no longer need to look for a match on your bank feed transactions. QBO will scan your downloaded bank transactions and compare them to your recorded transactions.

Here's how:

  1. Sign in to your QBO account.
  2. Click on Transactions or Banking at the left pane, then Rules.
  3. In the upper-right corner, click on New Rule
  4. Fill in the required fields of the form.
  5. At the bottom, ensure that Automatically confirm transactions this rule applies to is enabled.

You can also learn more about this feature from this article: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

If you need to change or move a transaction to a different account after the match, follow these steps to undo or unmatch it.
