Question

Matching Existing Invoice to Paypal income

This question has been asked repeatedly, but I have yet to find an answer.

I built out invoices in quickbooks online. I take in payments and they auto match or I manually match them to the invoice. I am happy.

NOW, due to the regression attributed to paypal connector and it's complete lack of functionality, I have duplicate income as QBO refuses to let me match this transaction to the existing invoice.

I do NOT want to create a new invoice through connector as they have incomplete info.

HOW do I MATCH a paypal transaction to an invoice?

I do not want to activate auto-confirm or any other tools,
so please do not get distracted from my question (this is common with QBO representatives). Thank you.

Hi, Redwood. I appreciate you for detailing your concern about matching PayPal transactions to your invoices without using automation. Since you're unable to do the option of manually matching your PayPal transactions to those in QuickBooks, I suggest reaching out to our live support team. Let me guide you.

In QuickBooks Online, you can match PayPal transactions to existing invoices if the transaction has already been recorded. When a PayPal transaction is imported, QuickBooks suggests one or more matching records from the Review tab on the App Transactions page.

Enabling automation is one way to manage this process more efficiently. However, since you prefer not to use auto-confirm and cannot manually match the transactions, it’s best to contact our Live Support for more personalized assistance. They can suggest using a screen share tool to review your account with you and to determine why this is happening:

  1. Go to the Help? icon in the top right-hand corner.
  2. Press the Contact Us button.
  3. Enter your question and tap Let's Talk
  4. Scroll down and choose to Get a callback

Let me also share this article for additional resource: Connect to PayPal FAQ.

For future reference, it's good practice to reconcile your accounts to maintain the accuracy of your records. Feel free to visit this helpful article: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

So you are confirming there is no way to MANUALLY match a PayPal transaction to an existing invoice?

WHY did quickbooks destroy perfectly functional tools to replace them with this current garbage?

I do not use the automation because the algorithm does not accurately predict what category I am using for transactions. If I let it auto categorize or match I have to go back and correct it…wasting EVEN MORE TIME.
