MultiCurrency is OFF in my settings yet QBO continues to require us to select either US or CAD on each and every transaction. How do we force it to stop asking since we only accept US Dollars?

I'll gladly share some insights about the multicurrency feature in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Mark.

When the multicurrency feature is disabled in QBO, the system will default to your home currency without prompting for currency selection on each transaction. If you are experiencing persistent prompts, let's double-check the settings to ensure your home currency is correctly set for added peace of mind.

Note that if you have previously enabled multicurrency, the option to turn this off is unavailable. Therefore, you'll have to make sure that your company and customers' currency are the same to avoid those prompts if it's turned on.

To verify, here's how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and settings.
  3. Head to the Advanced tab.
  4. Take note of the Currency section.

If it's disabled and you keep receiving those prompts, I recommend creating your transactions using incognito or other supported browsers to determine if this problem is caused by the accumulated site data. Here are the shortcut keys to launch a private window:

  • Google Chrome and Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If it works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache to start over fresh.

The setting has always been US Dollars as seen in this screenshot. We only have one account but just in case I did check my "Sandbox accounts" in Developer and they are also both set to US Dollars.

Hello there, @marksoar.

I'll be sharing some troubleshooting steps to help you with managing your currency in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Excessive cache buildup in your browser can lead to unexpected behavior with QuickBooks Online (QBO), potentially requiring you to select either US or CAD for every transaction. This issue often results from the browser cache being stored for too long, causing unusual behavior.

To resolve this, first try signing into your QBO account using private or "incognito" mode. This can help your device run more efficiently by avoiding interference from extensions, plugins, or cookies. Below are the shortcut keys for accessing private mode in various browsers:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

If it works, I recommend clearing your browser's cache. Doing so will remove the historical data and access QuickBooks with a clean slate. You can also switch to a different supported browser.
