I am not sure I understand bill pay online.  I want to pay a vendor using ACH.  Without paying extra can QB online pay a vendor using ACH and if so how do I set it up?

You're in the right place, @arwells57. I'm here to share some insights about paying bills online with QuickBooks.

You can pay your bills via ACH directly and hassle-free using Online Bill Pay. QuickBooks Online (QBO) works together with Online Bill Pay to let you:

  • Pay bills electronically within QuickBooks Online.
  • Pay vendor bills directly from within QuickBooks Online with ACH (bank transfer) or a paper check.
  • Record payment transactions accurately and automatically in QuickBooks Online

To get started, you need to sign up for Online Bill Pay by following these steps:

  1. Open QuickBooks, then go to the Apps menu.
  2. In the search field, search Bill Pay.
  3. Select Bill Pay for the QuickBooks Online app card.
  4. In the app card, you'll notice two buttons. Select Get Bill Pay.
  5. Once on the Learn More page for Online Bill Pay, select Get Started.
  6. Enter your company information, then Next.
  7. Now, follow the prompts to connect your bank account, then hit Next.
  8. Enter your personal information, then Next.
  9. Lastly, answer a few identities check questions. If you have issues with this process or are declined during the identity check process, contact Intuit's Care Support.

Although there is no monthly subscription fee for this service, you will be charged a transaction fee for each payment you process.

I'm adding these materials to know more about this feature:

Hello there, @Rapidcleaning. I want to ensure that your issue regarding online customer payment will be sorted out.

To start, we have to make sure that you've signed up for QuickBooks Payments service so you'll able to process customer payments online. You can verify it on the Accounts and settings page. Here's how:

  1. Select the Gear icon and choose Accounts and settings.
  2. Next, click the Payments tab.
  3. From there, check if you see your Merchant details.

Once confirmed, we can perform some troubleshooting steps to determine if the error you get is a browser-related issue. We can start with running your account via incognito mode since this does not store cache files that might cause odd behaviors when running web base programs. Below are the shortcut keys you can use:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Safari: press Command + Shift +N

Once signed in, open your customer profile again and edit the payment details. From there, check if you can now select the ACH without issue.

If this works, go back to your regular browser and clear the cache to eliminate piled-up files that might cause the error. If the same thing happens, I recommend reaching out to our Merchant support team to further investigate the issue. They can pull up your account in a secure place and help you get rid of the error.
