I just downloaded QB Enterprise 22 and it does not have the application to scan docs from within QB anymore.  There is an upload for mobile phone there now.

Glad to have you back here in the Community, @cab21.

I've got some updates to share about the enhancement made for the 2022 version of QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.

The Scan Manager feature was discontinued in QuickBooks Desktop 2022. You can still use Scan Manager in previous, currently supported versions.

For the latest version, you can now use the QuickBooks Desktop mobile app, upload your documents in the system using your mobile device. You can then add them to your invoices, purchase orders, or other transactions.

Know that QBDT currently supports PDFs and images with JPEG, JPG, GIF, or PNG format. To utilize this feature, you'll need to download the QuickBooks Desktop app.

Please refer to these links below on how to download them based on your device:

Once done, you can now start capturing and uploading the documents. If you're using the iOS version, here's how you can do that:

  1. From the QuickBooks Desktop app, sign in to your Intuit Account and select the company to upload documents to.
  2. On the home screen, tap the option to Snap and Upload Document.
  3. Tap Snap Document.
  4. Tap the Camera icon to take a picture of the bill or tap the Photos icon to upload your bill. If you need to, you can crop and rotate the photo.
  5. Tap Use this photo.
  6. Add a Name and Memo, then tap Upload photo then tap OK.
  7. Sign in to your QuickBooks Desktop company file to review, edit, and match bills to transactions.

If you're using an Android version, please see the steps on the link attached: Attach documents to transactions in QuickBooks Desktop using mobile. It also provide more details about the said functionality.

Lastly, to give you information about the latest enhancements made for QBDT Enterprise 2022, you can check out this article: New and improved features in QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

I got your back if you have any other concerns. I'll make sure you're taken care of. Have a good one!

Seriously...Does Intuit think we all do everything from our car?  Why should I load up my phone with all the pics I am now going to have to take and the time wasted is unbelievable!  The price of this software is huge and to not have access to my NEAT scanner which is also made by intuit is unacceptable.  By the way the NEAT scanner cost me a fortune when I bought that and except for quickbooks it has been useless for most of the time I have had it.  Something called "no longer supported" or "now its going to cost you to use"   Im so sick of these big companies that keep milking a product over and over and over

Exactly!  This is not an option for us either!  We scan everything and multiple pages per invoice.  The price of this program is crazy high and we have two computers using two different versions, so this is a huge yearly expense.  I bet if they took a poll they would find out just how much businesses use the scanner feature.  I hope it comes back sooner than later.  As of now, I am using Adobe, saving into a desktop folder and dragging and dropping the file.  Such a pain.

Of all the crazy things for them to cancel with many people working off-site now!

Couldn't they have added the mobile scan?.

Phone scans are not nearly as clean, or efficient, as a simple, one step, scan manager attachment. Plus, we need our phones for other things and cannot keep tying them up with scanning tasks.

Sure, we can get away with V2021 until May of 2024, but we will be stuck with this eventually.

It is always something.

Just did the upgrade and no scan manager is horrific!  I work from my desktop, not my phone!  I now have to scan to files on my computer and go in and out of QB if I need to find the paper trail.  The mobile app would be fine for a receipt here or there but not for attaching contracts or service acknowledgements or bank statements.  Who wants to name and number each individual page?  Not me!  Thanks Intuit for making our jobs more time consuming!

Hello there, @cab21.

Let me add some information about the features of QuickBooks Desktop 2022 and the accountant version.

Yes, the features mentioned above are also available in the QuickBooks Desktop 2022 Accountant version.

All the features available in QuickBooks Desktop are also applicable in the Accountant version.

Refer to this article for more feature updates in QuickBooks Desktop 2022: New and improved features in QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

Let me know if you have additional questions about the features of the accountant version. I'm just a post away.

November 15, 2021

Do you actually watch users utilize your product? Why would users want to be forced to use their phone to scan? These are users that run QB all day from a PC or laptop. We don't pay for Enterprise so we can play with our phones while we work.

January 27, 2022

I couldn't agree more! I was told I needed to upload QB Enterprise 22 to print the new 1099-NEC format only to discover I lost Scan Manager. I also scan in hundreds of invoices a month and taking the extra steps to load them is ridiculous. QBDT needs to do right and bring that feature back.

November 18, 2021

I cannot believe anyone would eliminate this feature.  I scan hundreds of multiple page documents for a corporation monthly.  I will make sure to tell all of my accounting colleagues to avoid quickbooks at all costs.  For what I am paying for Enterprise this is like some $.99 app on ios.  Wake up and get qualified software developers

December 3, 2021

I will join the others here on my great disappointment on the removal of scan manager.  I have been using Quickbooks since 1990's.  This has got to be the most stupid, backwards decision they have made!  My first purchase of QB was only $99 and that included payroll and gone up ever since. This latest update should have decreased due to removing one of the most useful tools it has. Scan manager must be added back soon or I will be going elsewhere for my accounting needs as I assume several others will be doing the same.  I serve several companies and none of them will stay with Quickbooks upon my advise unless this feature is brought back.

January 11, 2022

Agreed!!  I suppose they know what their doing but I don't like it just the same.  I too hope they lose customers over this move.

December 30, 2021

I too will be leaving intuit after 20 years of managing companies using scan maanger.  An iphone app is not acceptable for any corporate account that does lots of scanning.

January 11, 2022

Discontinuing Scan Manager is a huge disappointment.  Did Intuit issue a warning this was going to happen?  Had I known I never would have upgraded.  As a matter of fact, can we roll back to the older version?  If so that would be great.  Intuit should refund some of that money they took from us for a scaled back product.

Hi there, Lordway.

I can see the importance of being able to scan and attach documents to transactions in QuickBooks Desktop.

As mentioned by my colleague above, the Scan Manager feature was discontinued in QuickBooks Desktop 2022.  You can still be used it in previous, currently supported versions.

In QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), we're unable to downgrade a company file once it's updated. This means we won't be able to open your updated company file in the old version.

Though, we can restore a backup copy of your company file if you have one. Let's also make sure you and the accountant are on the same QuickBooks version or there's at least a gap of 1 year.

Here's how to restore your company file:

  1. Go to the File menu and select Open or Restore Company.
  2. Choose Restore a backup copy and then click Next.
  3. Select the Local Backup radio button, and then click Next.
  4. From the Look In drop-down arrow, choose the backup file location.
  5. Locate the backup file from the folder. The file name should appear as [Company Name].qbb.
  6. Select Open and then click Next.
  7. From the Save in drop-down arrow, choose the location to save the restored file.
  8. Type a new file name in the File name field then click Save.

For the detailed steps, refer to this link: Restore a backup of your company file.

I can not believe this. Had I known they were going to discontinue the scan manager I probably would not have upgraded to 22. I scan tons of documents into QuickBooks and now it is going to take twice as long to save them to a folder on my computer and then attach and resave, not to mention the amount of memory it's going to take up..
