Question

The PayPal Button

Long ago I had a PayPal button that was automatically inserted into invoices to clients. They could use that button within their emailed invoice to connect to PayPal to make payments. I am using Desktop Act 2023. I do not expect full integration between PayPal and QBooks. I only want to include a link for them to send payments to PayPal. How do I make this happen in my desktop now? I have been informed that my merchant services account through Intuit will no longer work after next month.

Good morning, @Yogi.

How are you doing today? I hope all is well.

As long as you have QuickBooks Payments, your customers can pay their invoices online by credit card or ACH bank transfer. All they have to do is select the Pay Now button in the email. Setting up online invoices takes just a few minutes and can help you get paid faster. I'm including some steps to walk you through setting up the payment link below.

First, we need to ensure that you turn online payments on for your customers. Here's how:

  1. Go to Edit and select Preferences.
  2. Click on Payments and then the Company Preferences tab.
  3. In the Online Payments section, choose the payment methods you want to make available to all customers. Then hit OK.
  4. Tap on Apply to existing customers.

Now you're ready to send an invoice with the payment link. Here's how:

  1. Go to the Customers menu and select Create Invoices.
  2. Choose the customer from the Customer: Job dropdown. Note: Make sure there's an email address in the Email field.
  3. Next to Your customer can pay online using, review the online payment options available.
  4. If you want to change the payment options for this invoice, click on the Change link. Select the checkboxes for the options you want to make available. Then hit Save.
  5. Add the products and services you need to sell.
  6. Fill out the rest of the invoice.
  7. Tap on the Main tab at the top of the invoice form.
  8. Select the Email dropdown, then hit Invoice.
  9. Review the invoice message. When you’re ready, click on Send.

For more information about this process, check out Send Online Invoices. For information on quick pay links, check out Send Payment links

Please don't hesitate to let me know if you have any additional questions or concerns. I'm always happy to lend a hand. Have a good one!

This was a concise reply, but Payments will be shut off in version 2023 and I am not updating. Do not want to use any service other than PayPal

Thanks for getting back with the Community, Yogi.

Currently, there's no scheduled date for the service discontinuation of QuickBooks 2023. When there's information on the topic, you'll be notified in advance through email and in-product notifications.

On May 31, 2025, service for QuickBooks 2022 will be discontinued.

When a discontinuation of service occurs for a product, if you choose no to upgrade by the disconsolation date, you won't have access to live technical support in the event you run into problems, or any of other Intuit services that can be integrated with your books.

This includes QuickBooks Payroll, QuickBooks Payments, and online bank feeds. Discontinued versions won't receive the latest critical security patches and updates, which may expose financial data and your product to security vulnerabilities.

I'd recommend reviewing our service discontinuation policy for QuickBooks 2022 to learn more about the process.

While Intuit will continue to support subscription renewals for existing QuickBooks Plus customers, you also have the options of moving to QuickBooks Enterprise, or QuickBooks Online. It's easy to move to a different accounting solution. If you're interested in making a switch, you can schedule a consultation any time.

Please don't hesitate to send a reply if there's any questions. Have a wonderful Monday!
