Question

Monthly payrun for under 18 not calculating superannuation right

We have an under 18 who is paid monthly and works 38 hours a week but QB is calculating the super incorrectly. We have no thresholds on the profile and OTE is correct with super at 11%. So the employees Gross OTE is $1,574.21 every month with SG calculating to be $161.62? But it should be 173.16. There are not deductions or anything else other that income in the payrun.

I believe it might be QB's attempting to work out the hours per week based on the month. so for example 1st September is a Friday so QB could be thinking that the employee has only worked 1 day so thus under 30 hours and not entitled super on that pay.

Changing to weekly would be costly in time and only alternative would be changing the employees birthday so remove QB from attempting to correctly calculate super.

Thanks for posting in the Community, RachelleBissett!

Let's check the employees pay rates to make sure the super rate is set to 11%. Here's how:

  1. Click on the Employees tab.
  2. Under employee list, click on the employee affected.
  3. Click on Pay Rates.
  4. Locate the primary pay category and check under SUPER RATES if it is showing 11%.
  5. From here you can also update the super rate.
  6. Click on Save.

Once done, go back to the pay run and then recalculate the pay run.

If the issue is the same, let's click on the employees pay run defaults and verify if you have entered a Quarterly maximum super contribution base. Here's how to:

  1. Under the employee details.
  2. Click on Pay Run Defaults.
  3. Locate the field for Quarterly maximum super contribution base.

And last, kindly check the pay category used on the pay run making sure the SUPER RATE is set correctly.

  1. Click on the Payroll Settings.
  2. Click on Pay Categories.
  3. Click on the pay category used by the employee.
  4. Check the super rate used.
