I have noticed that one of our employees has not been getting reported through the STP and we can't do the payment summary finalisation for same employee as its not including them?

Hi VicMcg,

This could be because of a number of variables. It is usually three things that could be stopping the employee from being included the STP if they have not been terminated.

Firstly, the employee is ticked as a Closely Held Employee, which is usually assigned to an employee who may be a director or share holder of the company and the ATO does not need them to be reported in STP:

This can be fixed by:

  1. Select the Employee
  2. Select Payrun Defaults
  3. Scroll down and then un-tick the box that says Closely Held Employee.
  4. Jump back to your Single Touch Payroll report and you should see the employee available.

Secondly, the employee may have already been marked as Is Final:

  1. When you run a Finalization Event there should be a warning up the top.
  2. Select the warning and it will explain that the missing employee has already been marked Is Final
  3. This is the system saying they will not appear on the Finalization Event.

Thirdly, the employee's date of birth. Whilst an unusual reason for the error, it could be that the employee's birth date is still set to the default 01/01/1900. You can check this by.

  1. Select the Employee
  2. Select Details
  3. Check Date of Birth on file, if 01/01/1900 you will can update it to the correct one
  4. Select Save.

These should be the only reasons for why the employee is not included in a Finalization Event. Give it a try and if you still get stuck you can always click here to contact us.
