Hi there,

Welcome to the Community. I'll be happy to show you how to change the business type in QuickBooks so it shows as a nonprofit with the Donors option.

In order to do this, please follow the steps below:

  1. Select Settings , then Account and settings.
  2. In Company.
  3. In Company type, select Edit .
  4. Select the Tax form ▼ dropdown, then choose Nonprofit organization.
  5. Select Save, then Done.
  6. Sign out and sign back in to see the changes reflected throughout QuickBooks.

From here, the Donor option will appear on your account. I encourage you to give this a try and let me know how you make out. I'll be one message away in case you have other questions.

Hi,

This doesn't work for me in the Candian version of QB online having a non-profit account type. Customer lable is still used, not donors.

I found this article about changing the label to donors.

https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/help-article/customer-company-settings/configure-account-nonprofit-organization/L8u0T0BAY_US_en_US?uid=m20eccpn

But When I followed the instructions there was just no option to click the dropdown menu to select donors - see screen shot.

Regards,

BB

Hello BB. Thanks for chiming in on this thread. The donor option isn't available on the Canadian version of QuickBooks. To learn more about managing not-for-profit accounting, I encourage you to check out this article here. In the meantime, feel free to ask other questions. I'm here to help.
