Question

How do I get the customers list to sort by "name" alphabetically? I can click the sort button but it doesn't have any discernable order.

I'm using the "customers" tab and clicking on "unbilled income" when this issue occurs.

Hello userjosh6,

It's a pleasure to see you in Community.  Welcome!  QuickBooks Online enables you to sort your customer list alphabetically.  I would be happy to show you how!

You can click on the Name column to resort the list, or follow these steps to re-sort the customer list by last name first;

1. From the left menu, open Sales, then Customers

2. Select the customer's name then Edit

3. Change the Customer display name field so it shows the last name first

4. Hit Save.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out again.  We are here to help!

Thanks for the response. This works in the customers tab, but once I filter for "unbilled income" the sorting no longer is working. Could this be a software glitch?

Additionally, the customer name is a company so I don't want it to show a last or first name, just the company name. Projects show up with a project number, which I'd like it to sort by. Most project look like "155-002 - Customer Name"
