Question

I want to downgrade my account but I am not able to because it says I have US currency. But I DO NO have any customers or suppliers that use US currency.

Where is your company located? US or CA?

Did you enable the multicurrency feature?

Hi chriswillphotog,

Thanks for connecting with us here.  Welcome!  We're happy to hear that you'd like to stay with the QuickBooks family.  I'll be happy to help!

QuickBooks Online offers the ability to enable multicurrency for your business when needed.  However, once this feature is turned on, it can't be turned off.  You can review this in your settings.  Here's how;

1. Click on Settings ⚙ in the top right

2. Select Account and settings

3. Open Advanced from the left menu

4. Scroll down to the Currencies section

This is where you'll confirm that it has been activated.

In your situation, you can decide if you'd like to proceed with downgrading your subscription.  To do this successfully there is another option.  The first step would be to export your data from your current QuickBooks account.  Next, you'll need to cancel the account and create a new one so you can import the data and get back to business as soon as possible.  Please note that when a QuickBooks Online account has been cancelled, you can continue to login and gather any information you need for up to one year from the cancellation date.  After one year, the account will be permanently deleted.

If you'd like assistance with this, please don't hesitate to contact us.

Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?) Help in the upper right in QuickBooks Online > enter "Contact support" > hit Contact Us > provide a brief summary of your situation > hit Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
Social Media: Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
Support hours are from Monday to Friday between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. ET.

If you have other questions, please don't hesitate to reach back out.  We're here for you!

Thank you for your suggestions. I do  have the easy start account right now but it is not working to upload the data from the other account. I'm not understanding why you would need to cancel the essentials account before uploading to the essentials account.

I am willing to pay someone to do this for me as I am totally frustrated with the whole business.

Also wondering if I delete all entries from the year (10+ years ago) that I enabled the foreign currency if then I can downgrade that way. I have already deleted that transaction years ago.

What about if I delete everything from that time and change the name of the company?? Would that work? I never ever have or intend to use foreign currency.

Hi chriswillphotog,

Thanks for joining this thread. QuickBooks Online is a great program that gives you the ability to simply track your sales and expenses. I'd be glad to help.

Once "multicurrency" feature turned on in your current QuickBooks Essentials, it can't be turned off. Multicurrency feature is not supported in the QuickBooks EasyStart plan. I encourage you to refer to the steps mentioned by my colleague above.

Let me know if you have questions, I'll be happy to help.
