Question

Is there a quick way to bulk delete customers?

I uploaded clients via CSV which also contained the Customer Type column only to realize that the subscribed version did not include Customer Type.  I upgraded to get it.  I would like to reupload the same CSV file but suspect i need to delete the current set of records to avoid duplicates.

Hi there,

Welcome to the Community. QuickBooks is a versatile program that helps you streamline your accounting with ease. I'll be happy to steer you in the right direction so you can get back to doing what you enjoy.

The ability to bulk delete customers isn't available in QuickBooks. You're more than welcome to send feature requests by clicking on the Gear icon and looking for Feedback. New product ideas and improvements are largely based on the feedback we get from users like you. As a workaround I recommend looking into third-party apps on our app store www.apps.com. In the meantime, I suggest checking out this article here that shows you how to individually delete a customer.

Thanks but that's not a suitable option.

Hi sam-g-rahal-gmai,

I can see how beneficial it would be to tidy up your customer list to avoid duplications.  However, as mentioned by my colleague, the option to delete customers isn't available at this time.  As an alternative you can make them inactive to remove them from the list.  Here's how;

1. From the left menu, open Sales and then Customers

2. Locate and select the Customers in the list

3. Click on the ▼ dropdown beside Batch actions

4. Select Make Inactive
