Question

Can we save a balance sheet & income statement in a format where sub-accounts are hidden eg. cash & cash equivalents total only without all bank accounts listed below it

we want to look at reports the way a set of financials reflect the balance sheet and income statement, we want to hide all the bank accounts/ petty cash accounts etc and show only the total cash & cash equivalents under current assets in the balance sheet for example.

I've got the steps you'll need on how to accomplish this, adilam.

You can click the mini drop-down arrow to collapse each account on a Balance Sheet report. The process will only display the parent accounts.

Please follow these steps:

  1. From QuickBooks Online, navigate to the Reports tab.
  2. In the Business Overview section, select the Balance Sheet report.
  3. Within the report, to the left of each parent account, click the Dropdown (▼) arrow to collapse the section.

I've attached a screenshot for your visual reference:

Once done, feel free to print or export the report as needed. Check out our guide on exporting report to learn more.

As always, you can get back to me if you have any additional questions. I'm here for you. Have a great day!
