I am running a 'Sales by Customer Summary' report. How can I filter this by Active Customer? I am using QuickBooks Online, Help/About says it is QuickBooks 4.2.1.

I've got you covered, @gregmoore.

When accessing reports in QuickBooks Online (QBO) you'll see all of your customers regardless of their status (active or inactive). The option to filter customers by status is currently unavailable. As a workaround, you can manually select those active customers when you run the Sales by Customer Summary report. Refer to the easy steps below:

  1. In QuickBooks go to the Reports menu.
  2. Scroll down to the Sales and customers section and click Sales by Customer Summary.
  3. Select the Customise button.
  4. Go to the Filter field and check the box beside Customer.
  5. Then, click the Customer drop-down arrow and choose those customer's name you want to show on the report.
  6. Once done, hit Run report

For more details about the process, see our Customise reports on QuickBooks Online page.

Also, you can save the changes you've made so you can be able to run the same report in the future. Here's how:

  1. After you customise the report, click the Save customisation button.
  2. Then, give your report a name.
  3. Once finished, hit Save
  4. You can access this report under the Custom reports tab.

Let me know if you have further concerns about accessing customer reports in QBO. I'll do anything I can to help you. Have a good one.
