Thanks for reaching out to us, o-breslin2-nuiga.

In QuickBooks Online, you can easily import journal entries through a CSV file. You must ensure all accounts on your spreadsheet are identical before importing your file and that the account number is turn off

It's possible that a misspelled letter on your spreadsheet prompted the system to identify it as a new account, or you may have encountered a cache issue cause by having too many online files stored on your browser. Let's perform some troubleshooting procedure if everything looks correct.

You can start with accessing your account using an incognito window. This helps resolve various browser issues since it doesn't save any site data. Here are the shortcut keys to use:

  • Google Chrome, press CTRL + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press CTRL + Shift + P
  • Safari: press Command + Shift + N

Return to your regular browser and clear its cache if everything works in the private browser. You may also use different supported browsers available on your computer or device.

Furthermore, you can read this article if you need to apply a journal entry credit to an open invoice for future use: Apply a journal entry credit to an invoice in QuickBooks Online.
