Opening balances are not reclassifying in the Balance sheet after I make the entry.

Hi Olabero,

Thanks for reaching out with your question in the QuickBooks Community. There are many reports in your QuickBooks Online account to help you keep an eye on your business, and the Balance Sheet is one of them. Your Balance Sheet is a snapshot of your books at the specified moment. I can go through some information with you that explains the opening balances.

Your opening balance will provide you with the total that the account was opened with. It's part of your double-entry system. The type of account for the transaction will determine the debits and credits. The entry will include the account and the opening balance account to balance the entry. The amount the account opens with will always be the opening balance unless you edit that entry. This balance remains on your balance sheet in the Opening Balance Equity account.

It sounds like you might be trying to change some account types rather than classes. If you're looking to change the type of account created in the Chart of Accounts, you can check out this article: Add to or edit the Chart of Accounts. You'll need to edit the accounts through the Chart of the Accounts, not through the Balance Sheet, and this is where you change the account type.

I hope you found this helpful. If you have any other questions, I'm here to help. Have a great day!
