Question

Can I use my sub-account int the statement of cashflow? I want to present all the cashflows in the parent account, not for each sub accounts.

Per example, I have 3 credit cards (A, B and C) as a sub-account of "Credit Cards". I reimburse 2k$ in A and 3k$ in B. With my C I spend 1k$ I want to show in my statement of cashflow a variation of 4k$ in "Credit Card" so in my balance sheet In my cashflow it shouls show "Credits Card" variation of 4k$ and in my balance sheet the liability will be the last value minus 4k$

Hello jonathan-lefebvre,

Thanks for sharing what you're looking for in the Statement of Cash Flows report in QuickBooks Online. Having your data organized just the way you like it can help with getting a bigger picture of your books and let you know where your business stands financially, so I can see why you're looking to arrange the report in a specific way. This can be especially useful when you're comparing one report to another to make sure your numbers are lining up. I'll go over the options here.

The Statement of Cash Flows and Balance Sheet reports are both great seeing money in and out, as well as the current status of accounts in your books. The Statement of Cash Flows automatically breaks out sub-accounts so you can see each one individually, and the standard Balance Sheet report does the same. If you're looking at the Balance Sheet Summary, this is where you'll see all the credit card sub-accounts included in the credit card account..

At this time, there isn't a way to change the way the accounts appear on the Statement of Cash Flows report. What I recommend here is using the Statement of Cash Flows report in conjunction with the standard Balance Sheet report, which is simply labelled Balance Sheet in QuickBooks Online's reports section, to have a better comparison of the data.

You can also consider exporting any report from QuickBooks Online in order to create an Excel document that you can then manipulate how you need in that software. Simply click the little export icon on the report to get started.
