Ho do I create a journal entry? I need to create an entry for a deposit I paid out for my shop lease. Thank you in advance.

Hi imyourguy,

It's great that you already seem to know which accounts to pick, as that's half the battle. QuickBooks Online is designed with a focus on simplicity and automation, but using journal entries allows you to take full control of the incredible accounting capabilities built into the system. I'll be happy to assist you with this.

It's just a couple quick and easy steps to create a journal entry in QuickBooks Online:

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks Online using a web browser or the desktop app (currently the mobile app is most effective at handling standard transactions).
  2. Click on + New and select Journal Entry under Other (don't see Journal Entry? Click Show more to expand the MiniView).
  3. Select the Journal date, enter the Accounts affected, and then enter amounts in Debits and Credits fields making sure they balance.
  4. Click Save and close when ready.
