Question

How can I put a one time amount for a Taxable Benefit, such as a leased vehicle, at the end of calendar year to ensure that the appropriate amounts show up on a T4 Slip?

Currently, there is only a routine amount for every pay that can be set up with an employee instead of a one time amount as calculated on the CRA website with the Automobile Benefits Online Calculator (ABOC) for the end of a calendar year.

Hi there 22JPG,

It's important that all your pay is entered properly in order for your yearly totals to be accurate. QuickBooks Online Payroll is a great tool able to calculate payroll for your employees based on hours worked. I can point you in the right direction to enter a deduction or contribution.

In order to enter a contribution or a deduction, and you're wanting it to be used one time. You'd create it the same way as any other deduction or contribution, then you can edit the default amount once you've run the pay containing the amount in order for it to be zero. To add a deduction or contribution, go to the Payroll tab, then the Employees section. Click on the name of the employee you'd like to affect, then scroll down to the Deduction and Contribution section. Click edit, then add the details of the deduction in question. Once the pay you needed has been created, return to this section, then click on the pencil beside the deduction in question, then edit the amount to be set to $0.
