Hi there,

Running your business with QuickBooks Online is such an awesome way to save time and effort with your bookkeeping. The user-friendly interface makes it easy to review your financial data, and it's important that you can make the most of what the program has to offer. I'll explain what kinds of graphs and visuals are available within the account.

The primary place to review report information in graph format is on the Dashboard. This is the main page you see when you log into your account. The Dashboard will display your invoices, expenses, profit and loss, and sales details in graph format.

The other place you can look to see information in graph format is within the reports centre. Click the Reports tab on the left navigation menu, then click the Business Snapshot report. This report will display graphs for the following information:

  • My Income
  • My Expenses
  • Previous Year Income Comparison
  • Previous Year Expense Comparison

Other than the Dashboard and the Business Snapshot report, other report details would have to be created into a graph outside the program.

I think it would be really handy to have the option to generate graphs from your reports within QBO. I'd be happy to pass on your thoughts about this to my team. I'd recommend submitting feedback on your end as well. You can do this by clicking the Gear icon > Feedback

If you have any other questions, please reach out to our tech support team.

Cheers.

Hi AddieC,

I'm a new QBO+ user.  I'm truly stunned that one cannot generate graphs within QBO+ of *any* report one creates. in QBO+. Wow! :((

Hi Trevor,

Thanks for joining us here. It's important to present your business information in a way that's easy for you to analyze. In addition to what my colleague Addie shared above, QuickBooks Online also enables you to view and customize graphs as chart bars or trend lines. You can do so for data such as.

  • Revenue
  • Expenses
  • Gross profit
  • Net profit
  • Accounts receivable
  • Accounts payable
  • COGS
  • Current ratio
  • Quick ratio

To do so, here's how to proceed.

  1. Go to the Reports menu and choose the Performance centre tab (this will display several graphs representing your business health).
  2. Click on +Add new chart to generate a new graph.
  3. Choose a category then Continue.
  4. Select between Vertical bars or Trend line.
  5. Customize the Time period and Name as necessary.
  6. Select Add to Dashboard.

And there you have it! If you'd benefit from additional options in managing reports in the program, feel free to submit feedback directly to our engineers using the steps shared in the initial response to this thread. Your comments are crucial in driving innovation to offer the best QuickBooks experience we can.

Have a great day!
