Hey there redstoneeatery,

When it comes to sales tax remittance periods, there are a few to choose from and so making sure your bookkeeping aligns with what you've been assigned by the government is important for accuracy in your numbers. With QuickBooks Online, it's possible to configure and edit your sales tax setup for those different remittance schedules, and I'll happily to show you how to do it.

Changing your sales tax remittance periods takes a few easy steps. Follow along below.

  1. Select Taxes from the left menu.
  2. Click Manage sales tax on the Sales Tax page.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow beside Add rate for the sales tax agency you need to change the period of (Example: Canada Revenue Agency).
  4. Select Edit agency settings.
  5. Choose from the Filing frequency drop-down menu to find the Yearly option.
  6. Click Save.

Once you've done this, the program will adjust what your Sales Tax page looks like so you'll see the annual filing period. When you're ready to file, take a look at the File sales tax article to learn how it works in QuickBooks Online.
