Question

How does one enter a Year End like October 5th 2019 in QBO Advanced setting as settings only deal with months not days?

Hi there,

Setting up the start and end of your fiscal year is an important step in accounting. Your accountant uses the fiscal year to run reports and budgets to properly assess your business health. Setting up a fiscal year in QuickBooks Online makes it simple for you to run reports based on the month you've selected.

The fiscal year settings in your account are for reporting purposes, and whatever you select here won't impact your bookkeeping. Essentially this setting is there to make it easier for you to select the "Fiscal Year" option when running reports or reviewing data. That being said, if you've got a fiscal year start date that doesn't fall on the 1st day of the month, you'll have to use a custom date-range when you run your reports.

I know how handy it would be to have the option to set up a month and day for the fiscal year start date in your account. I'd be happy to pass along this suggestion to the right team of people. I recommend submitting this feedback on your end as well, by clicking the Gear icon > Feedback

I hope this clears things up for you.

Have a nice day.
