Hi yvonneyu20000-gm,

I'm happy to learn you're using QuickBooks to simplify the way you look at your financials. It's important you're able to add a new account type in your Chart of Accounts and I've got your back. I'd be happy to steer you in the right direction with this.

Before I share more info, it's important to note that there are two account types in QB Online; Balance Sheet accounts and Income and Expenses accounts. The Balance Sheet accounts include your assets such as utilities, credit cards, and bank account. Income accounts are responsible for tracking the source of your company's income while expense accounts track the expenditure of your company. Here's how to add a new account:

  1. Click on Accounting from the left menu.
  2. Hit New.
  3. Select the appropriate account type in the Category Type drop-down menu.
  4. Click on the appropriate Detail Type in the drop-down menu.
  5. Fill in all remaining fields and click Save and Close.

Check out this article here for more info on how to add or edit the Chart of Accounts on your account. If you have other questions, feel free to leave a question in the comments. I'll be happy to assist you further. Otherwise, I wish you a great rest of the week.
