I am using QBO and when trying to create a transaction detail report i get the nessage the data cannot be displayed, what does that mean?

I'm glad to learn you're using QuickBooks Online to bring your financials into focus. It's vital you're able to seamlessly run reports and see how your business is doing. QuickBooks is a great program for running reports and I'll be happy to guide you from here. 

 

Getting an error similar to the one you've described can delay your progress and a way to fix this would be clearing cache and cookies on your browser. As you use your browser, it collects cache and cookies from different sites and it's recommended you clear them when you can. Clearing cache and cookies fixes most display issues that a site may be having. Here's an article which shows you how to do that. One other thing to consider is the date ranges you've entered on your reports. I recommend starting out with smaller date ranges to see if you're able to view the report that way. If this is a report size issue, I suggest checking out this great article with more info on How to fix a report that is too large to display.
