Question

I use journal entries occasionally, but I notice that the taxes tab does not include the GST i use in the journal entries. How can i change that?

    Hi casiesalikin01,

     

    Welcome to Community!  It's important that you're able to track your sales tax accurately in QuickBooks Online, in keeping aligned with government guidelines.  I'd be happy to help!

     

    When creating a journal entry to balance your books, the sales tax must be entered on the same line as the associated item.  When adding it as a separate line item, it won't reflect in the sales tax agency.  I suggest reviewing the entry and make the necessary changes to ensure a positive outcome on your books.

    I enter a line item that requires taxes to be applied. However, the "TAX ITEM" collum won't let me enter anything into it. And the drop-down arrow is not functioning. How do I enable this feature?
