I would like to create summary report that shows total purchases (Acct 5000) by supplier and summary freight charges (acct 5200) for those suppliers.

I know how important it is to show a supplier report that contains the total purchase and summary freight charges for those suppliers in QuickBooks Online. However, this data collection is unavailable at this time.

In the meantime, you can run two reports to show this data. I suggest running the Expenses by Supplier Summary report and then customizing the Transaction Detail by Account report.

Here's how to customize the Transaction Detail by Account report:

1. In QuickBooks Online, click the Search icon on the top right.
2. Type 'by account' and then select Transaction Detail by Account.
   
   
    
3. Click the Customize button.
4. Change the Report period and from the Rows/Columns, Group by drop-down, choose Supplier.
5. From the Filter section, select the Transaction Type drop-down and then choose the expense transactions like Check, Bill, and Expense.
6. Then pick the freight charges from the Distribution Account drop-down, like truck/pickup fees, terminal handling charges, cargo insurance, etc...
7. Then hit Run report.

Then you can export the data of each report to Excel to merge them from there. You can click the Export icon on the upper right of the report and choose Export to Excel.
