Question

Is there a P&L report where I can break out the data of one customer and compare it to the P&L for the rest of the company?

Hi bonniemac,

Welcome back to the Community. QuickBooks offers a variety of reports that help you bring your financials into perspective. I'll be happy to share more info so you can return to being amazing at your craft.

While there isn't a P&L report where you can break out the data of one customer and compare it with the P&L for the rest of the company, you can use a workaround. The workaround involves separately running a P&L for the customer in question, then print or save the report (you can also leave it open in one browser tab), and here are the steps:

  1. Click on Reports.
  2. In the search box, type in Profit and Loss by Customer.
  3. If you wish to select a specific customer, select Customize, then select Filter.
  4. In the Filter column, select the drop-down arrow and select the customer in question.
  5. Select Run report.

Once you've done this, open another tab/browser window and run the general P&L for the entire company and compare it side-by-side with the P&L by Customer report. If you'd like to see more reports in QuickBooks I recommend sending feedback to our engineers. You can easily do this by clicking on the Gear icon and looking for Feedback

Give this a try and let me know how you make out. I'll be on standby.
