Question

Is there a way to create a Transaction by Tag report for only one tag? It seems that one can only choose Transaction Report by Tag Group, or by Ungrouped. Why?

Hello @LaterWhen and thanks for being a member of the QuickBooks Community!

I love that you're taking advantage of our relatively new Tags feature in QuickBooks Online. Tagging your transactions enables you to track your money however you want in order to take a deeper look into your business' success. Making use of the reports that come along with this feature is the most efficient way to use it, but let me go over a few details with you.

The Tags feature is still part of the QuickBooks Lab section of the program - this means that it's an experimental feature of sorts. QuickBooks Labs is a place where our product developers can test out new features and widgets on real QuickBooks users. What this means is that these features may still need a little work in order to meet the expectations of some users.

You're correct in saying that the Transaction List by Tag Group report can only be grouped by Ungrouped tags or Tag Groups. There isn't an option within the Customize function that allows you to filter by one or two specific tags. I can see how this would be a handy feature though, and I'm sure our product developers would love the chance to learn how they can do better. I want to encourage you to have your say on this feature by navigating to the Gear icon, then selecting Feedback. This is where you can express what changes you'd like to see, how features can be improved, and what new features you'd like added to QuickBooks Online.

Feedback from users like you is taken seriously, and our product development team uses your suggestions to make our products better suited to our users. I'll pass this feedback along on my end too!

I hope you have a fantastic day.
