Can I change this so that it shows in the GL?

Hello donfraser30,

Thanks for joining the QuickBooks Community! I know that displaying the customer or supplier name associated with your transactions makes it easier to read your reports. Sometimes it's necessary to use a journal entry to enter a transaction, and I want to explain how you can easily identify those transactions in your General Ledger with QuickBooks Online.

As you indicated, the Name associated with your journal entries does not display in your General Ledger, but the Description does. You can use this field to enter important information regarding the transaction, such as the nature of the transaction or other details. In this case, you can include the name of your customer or supplier in this field so that it will appear on your General Ledger.

If you'd like to let our product development team know what changes you'd like to see, they'd be happy to hear from you. Submit feedback by clicking the Gear icon, then selecting Feedback. We are always looking for new features to add, and improvements that will make doing your books a breeze.

Have a great day!
