Question

Open Sales Orders By Customer Does Not Agree With Actual Sales Order

Using QB Premier Manufacturing and Wholesale (desktop) 2015

I ran an Open Sales Order By Customer report and two things happened. One customer, the amount of the open sales order on the report doesn't agree with the actual open sales order. Two, another customer who I know has an open sales order does not appear on the report at all. I did the Rebuild Data and Verifty Data utitilities, no change. I followed the three suggested steps to repair a file: changed the date/changed it back, added "..." to a new line, added an item, then deleted (closing and reopening the sales order each time). After adding an item, the one s/o that hadn't appeared at all is there, but the amount is wrong on this one, too.  It's not the tax, or any one item (I've check amounts every way I can think of). Any ideas?

Hello HycorAdmin,

Great job with the troubleshooting steps you've taken up to this point. It certainly seems you know your way around the program and how to look for and resolve issues.

One of the complications with your situation is you're using an unsupported version of QuickBooks Desktop. I have a few additional troubleshooting steps for you to try that'll hopefully help you work this out.

First, it'll help to determine if the issue you're seeing is related to your company file or the program overall. To test this out, open a sample company file, enter some sales order information, run the same report, and see what results you get.

If the results are different, it means there's an issue with the company file specifically. In this case, you can consider using QuickBooks File Doctor to help resolve the issue. A couple of cautions with File Doctor is it may not work with the 2015 version since it's so old, and it's important to make sure that you don't accidentally uninstall your 2015 while going through it. If you have the original install file or disc handy and stored somewhere else, that's good. However there aren't available 2015 download links at this time so if you accidentally uninstall it, there won't be a way to reinstate it. Here's more information about it: Fix company file and network issues with QuickBooks File Doctor

If you're seeing the same result in the sample file, that means there's an issue with the program overall. In this instance, I recommend upgrading to a newer version of the program to make sure everything is working correctly. Upgrading to 2020, for instance, will also give you the opportunity for support as it's a supported version. Learn about supported versions, policies, and contact information here: Intuit QuickBooks Desktop software support policies

Our support teams can also help with upgrading if that's what you're interested in doing. Feel free to take a look at the What's new in QuickBooks Desktop 2020 article to see what's available in the newest version of the program.

I hope that helps! Have a great rest of your day.
