QB Online. Custom Balance Sheet Report

I upgraded to QB Online, my previous version was 2015 Premiere Contractor desktop version. In my 2015 version I was able to create a custom balance sheet where I could add subcolumns to add a Previous Period with "$ change" and "% change" displayed. For example, my custom balance sheet would include Nov and Dec and it would show the $ and % change between these months all on 1 sheet. I can't seem to find this in the new QB Online? I need this custom feature!! Help!

Hello Sam360, thanks for clarifying which version of QuickBooks Online you have. That explains why you're unable to view the compare another period section, as this is available in QuickBooks Essentials and Plus. QuickBooks EasyStart is the simplest configuration of all three. To take advantage of the feature you're looking for, you'd have to upgrade your plan in your settings. Here's how: Upgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription

Let me know if there's anything else I can do to help!

Hi Sam360,

Welcome to the Online family! QuickBooks Online not only provides you tons of great financial reports to stay on top of your business health but also enables you to customize these reports to focus on details that are more important to you. I see what you're trying to achieve in your Balance sheet report, and I'd be happy to show you how to do so in the program.

To customize your Balance sheet in QuickBooks Online to add a previous period with $ change and % change, follow these steps.

  1. Go to the Reports menu.
  2. Find and open your Balance sheet report.
  3. Use the basic filters on the report to adjust things like the report dates.
  4. Under the Compare another period section (beside Accounting method), use the dropdown to select the box beside Previous period (PP)$ change, and % change.
  5. Feel free to include other customization you'd like.
  6. When ready, select Run report to apply them.

And that's it! For more on how to run and customize reports in QuickBooks Online, check out these articles.

I hope this helps! Don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything else!

Thank you for the reply. I tried the steps you provided; however, I do not have the Compare another period section next to Accounting method.  On my screen i only see Report period, Display columns by, Show non-zero or active only and Accounting method. There is no Compare another period. I am using EasyStart. Is this because of the version that I am using?
