Hi caca04,

Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community. Since having printed copies of the information you're entering into QuickBooks Online can be useful for a number of reasons, I can appreciate where this question about printing journals is coming from. I'd be happy to go over the options to make sure you have a printed copy of your journal transaction.

Journal entries are different from other transactions in QuickBooks Online, and that's also true when it comes to printing them. While other transactions have a Print and Preview button at the bottom of the window, journal entries do not. Rest assured that you can still print the journal entry information though, including the accounts entered line-by-line, and I can show you how.

If you're looking to print the information for a single journal entry you just filled out, the easiest way to handle it is to hit Save (not Save and close) and follow the steps below.

  1. After hitting Save, additional options will appear in the bottom bar. Choose More.
  2. Click Transaction journal. This opens a report for just that journal entry.
  3. Click the printer icon on the report's right-hand corner.

You can also access the Journal report from the Reports centre, which is useful for if you want to see more journal entries or if you need to go back to a journal entry you closed. The report will also show you the transaction journals for all transactions entered into QuickBooks, including invoices, expenses, payroll, and more. I'll outline how you can filter for just the journal entries created through the Journal Entry feature.

  1. Select the Reports tab.
  2. Use the search bar to find the report called Journal. Select the report to run it.
  3. Click Customize.
  4. Click Filter.
  5. Choose Journal entry from the Transaction Type drop-down menu.
  6. Add other filters as needed.
  7. Click Run report.

Give that a shot. Once you've got the report populated with the information you'd like, you can print it.
