Hi mvk-merridale-ca,

It's great to see you're on top of your books and reaching out to Community for assistance with your sales tax calculations and reports.  QuickBooks Online understands that situations like this can arise from time to time and provides you with the option to undo previous tax filings, when corrections need to be made.  In this situation, it's best to un-file the previous tax filings and prepare the returns again for accuracy.

Here's how to un-file a sales tax return:

1. Select Taxes from the left menu

2. Open the Sales Tax tab

3. Choose the Filings Tab

4. Click on the sales tax filing that you want to un-file

5. From the Action column, open the drop-down list and view Exception Details.  Print for your records.

6. Return to the Action column and select Undo Filing from the drop-down list

You'll see a window open to confirm Are you sure you want to go back?

7. Review the information displayed and click Undo Filing

Note:  If you need to un-file historic filings, do so in reverse order by date to reach the filing needed.  If the books have been closed you'll need to re-open the books before you can un-file.

Here's how to re-open the books:

1. From the Gear in the top right, go to Account and Settings

2. Choose Advanced from the left

3. Click on the Edit icon to the far right of the Accounting section

4. Move the Toggle to the off position Save and then Done

For your reference, here's an article to assist you with un-filing a sales tax return.

Welcome to the QuickBooks family.  Enjoy the rest of your day!
