Scheduled Reports only option is PDF - need Spreadsheet

Scheduling reports is a great way to save time by sending out the reports you need even when you're not at the computer. I can help go over this feature and how it works.

When creating a scheduled report QuickBooks Desktop links with your email address and send the report out to the email address it's assigned. As this is done through email QuickBooks Desktop creates the file as a PDF as that is the most compatible with sending through email. If you wish to have these reports in a spreadsheet format you would need to run the report you need through QuickBooks Desktop and export it to excel. You can follow these steps on how to export a report to excel:

1. Open the report you want to export.
2. Select the Excel drop-down at the top of the report, then select Create New Worksheet or Update Existing Worksheet.
3. In the Send Report to Excel window, choose what you'd like to do with the report.
4. Select the Advanced button to see other available options for the exported report then select OK. To ensure the exported report will show Header information

   If you are using a newer version of MS Excel and the exported report does not show header information, go to the Printing options section and make sure the On Printed report and screen option is selected.

5. Select the Export button. QuickBooks opens MS Excel. You can edit your data as needed.

From there you can attach the file to an email and send it out if needed. If you wish to have the ability to send a scheduled report out in a different format I recommend sending feedback to our development team. Once our development team receives your feedback they will look into ways they could add this feature in future updates or versions.

What kind of scheduled report do you need? Should you need to generate these reports to XLS (i.e Journal Report, Invoice with Payments, Payroll Detail Report, Transaction Detail Report), you may utilize an additional tool.
